Climate Change & Human Pathogens: Komor’s Colorado Plan

58% of Human Pathogens Amplified by Climate: Dr. Komor Condemns Reactive Opponents as a 'Dangerous Liability' to Colorado

DENVER, CO - Following the official declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) classifying the rapidly expanding Ebola virus outbreak (Bundibugyo strain) in Central Africa as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), Earth Systems Science advisor and gubernatorial candidate Dr. Christian R. Komor released a comprehensive technical response outlining why Colorado’s leadership must transition immediately from reactive medical containment to proactive biospheric restoration.

Climate Change

"The World Health Organization's emergency declaration is an extraordinary warning, but it is being met with the exact same legacy diagnostic failure that has troubled climate strategy," stated Dr. Komor. "A landmark meta-analysis published in Nature Climate Change revealed that fully 58% of all human pathogenic diseases, including hemorrhagic fevers, malaria, and cholera, have been actively aggravated and accelerated by climate hazards. Managing these biological anomalies reactively through panic or localized logistics is a losing battle. We must address climate change at the source by dynamically removing carbon from the atmosphere. At the same time this can be a windfall in jobs and ROI for Colorado."

Climate Change and the Three Vectors Driving Global Disease Spread

Dr. Komor, who formerly served as a Special Advisor to the White House Office on Climate Policy, noted that macro-ecological data explicitly connects global heating and ecological breakdown to the hyper-acceleration of public health crises:

Accelerated Zoonotic Spillover: Groundbreaking predictive modeling published in Nature demonstrates that climate-driven habitat shifts force thousands of mammal species to migrate and cross paths for the first time, triggering thousands of unique viral sharing events. This unprecedented biological co-mingling vastly increases the probability of zoonotic spillover into human populations, with hotspots already forming in high-elevation, biodiverse regions.

Geographic Vector Expansion: According to the IPCC, rising ambient temperatures are expanding the spatial distribution of deadly disease vectors into higher latitudes and elevations where populations possess zero historical immunity, threatening to cripple regional healthcare infrastructures.

Waterborne Pathogen Proliferation: Warming surface temperatures accelerate the replication cycles of deadly pathogens, while extreme precipitation anomalies routinely overwhelm municipal stormwater and sewage systems, creating immediate, localized spikes in infectious waterborne illnesses following heavy floods.

The Climate Change Diagnostic Gap: Exposing Bennet and Weiser

Dr. Komor directly challenged his primary gubernatorial opponents, U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and Attorney General Phil Weiser, for their lack of an atmospheric restoration plan capable of addressing this compounding background load.

"Senator Bennet wants to deploy tired, 20th-century 'cap-and-invest' carbon tax markets that do nothing but place a corporate price tag on the rate of our decline without removing a single ounce of the legacy waste already cooking the state. Meanwhile, Attorney General Weiser is proposing that we cover irrigation ditches with solar panels, a classic example of a reactive band-aid that manages the symptoms of an escalating crisis while leaving the primary heat source untouched. Coloradans are physically suffering and deeply concerned and Weiser and Bennetts reactive ideas will work about as well as appeasing the Nazis did. The people don’t need career politicians to 'validate their feelings'; they need a Governor to effectively address the source by removing the 900 gigatons of excess carbon dumped in our atmsophere."

The Sovereign Shield: Prevention via Mechanical Restoration

The Komor for Governor platform addresses the biological polycrisis by treating atmospheric drawdown as essential state-led public infrastructure. The candidate’s Interstate SkyCarbon Blueprint bypasses state fiscal caps by deploying constitutionally TABOR-exempt funding for four off-grid, EPA-modelled, megaton-scale Direct Air Carbon Removal (DACR) hubs inside Colorado. The SkyCarbon Blueprint also pairs with Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and resource-circular AI data center thermal coupling.

By actively mining the 900-to-1,200 gigaton legacy carbon debt directly from the ambient air shed, the SkyCarbon Blueprint actively lowers the global background thermal load that fuels vector expansion, habitat collapse, and rapid zoonotic mutations.

"If you think about it, climate change is at the heart of so many of voters' current concerns. Any candidate who doesn't understand this reality will be a dangerous liability to Colorado. Partisans check boxes. Americans write-in leaders. I am running as a determined write-in candidate to install the emergency brake on this doomsday clock. Write in Christian Komor on the open line under Governor, because emissions reductions alone are a mathematical failure and if you figure that out in four more years it will be too late to make a start."
