"WAKE THE F**K UP, COLORADO — WE'RE NEXT YEAR'S NEWS."
👤 Christian Komor | 🏷️Press Release | 📍Denver, Colorado
As of Tuesday morning, approximately 330,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in France and Spain as wildfires — supercharged by Europe's fourth heatwave of the summer — advance on Bordeaux, Madrid, and Valencia. A renewed 40°C heat wave arrives Tuesday and is forecast to peak Wednesday.

WHERE WAS THE PHOTO FROM?
"The photograph attached to this release was not taken in France. It was not taken in Spain or Canada. The author took it himself while packing to evacuate from Fruita, Colorado."
"NOT AN UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY
When France and Spain burn, we are not watching some distant country. We are watching a preview. Anyone in Colorado who lived through Marshall, Cameron Peak, East Troublesome, the smoke summers of 2020 and 2021 — or the Snyder Fire eleven miles from my house — already knows we are next.
Four firefighters did not come home from the Snyder Fire. A fifth is still hospitalized. The wealthiest, most technologically advanced, best-firefighting-equipped nations on Earth are unable to keep firefighters safe on a fire calendar that no longer stops and can move faster than you can run. That is what we are running out of time to change.
WE MUST ACT PROACTIVELY, AT A TIME WHEN WE ARE ON THE BACK FOOT.
We still have maybe 7 years to establish large-scale Direct Atmospheric Carbon Removal. Researchers have demonstrated that locating a High-Speed Data Center with DACR (HSDC+DACR) cancels out the challenges of the other. Christian Komor, a gubernatorial candidate running against Phil Weiser, has promised to enact a SkyCarbon Enterprise Blueprint pairing hyperscale data centers sited on Colorado's high plains with co-located industrial-scale atmospheric carbon removal — powered by clean baseload energy and producing building materials, biodegradable plastics, and other product lines from the recovered carbon.
